PoFest 2009 - Zen Poetry

April 28th, 2009

Gosh, I’ve just noticed that I haven’t been posting up here enough lately.  Please be patient, I’m just working my way through the backlog.  I’ve got a lot of stuff to go through.

Meanwhile, some more pics from the Edmonton Poetry Festival or PoFest as it is affectionately known.  I’m playing around with presentation here putting the images into video form for sharing rather than a standard photo gallery view.  Let me know what you think.

These shots are from one of my favourite events.  It’s called Zen Poetry.  Sunday morning, you wake up and head over to the Shanti Yoga Studio for an amazing event.  Chinese tea is served as the participants ready themselves for the reading.  Unlike other readings, there is no host per se.  The readers all know their spot by virtue of the order of proceedings.  When it comes time to read, you stand, pause and create space between yourself and the other readers.  You read.  You sit.  All is still.  It is brilliant.

Special thanks to Mark Kozub for use of his piece “One” from the CD “Meditation Lane” for this video.

Luminous - you caught the feeling of the event -loved how the black and white really showed the beautiful quality of light in that room, and in people’s faces (Nicole looks like she is lit from within.) Beautiful music, too. Thanks - this made me feel that peace again! - Wendy
